help my rolled hems look like garbage

I have a rolled hem foot and I've watched every youtube video and I still can't get it right. The fabric keeps slipping out of the curl thing, or it bunches up, or its just lumpy and sad looking. tried adjusting the tension, tried going slower, tried starching the fabric first. I'm working with rayon challis for a blouse and I just want nice delicate hems like I see on rtw stuff. is the foot broken? is it me? should i just give up and do a narrow double fold like a normal person genuinely considering paying someone to just hem this for me at this point but that feels like defeat
