Best fabric for unlined trousers that wont cling? I hate wearing shorts underneath.

I want to make lightweight summer trousers that I can wear without a lining or shorts underneath. Most lightweight fabrics I try either cling or are see-through. Is there a fabric that solves both problems, opaque enough to wear alone but light enough for warm weather?
