Shortening a sleeve without moving the vent, how do you handle this?

I need to shorten a jacket sleeve by about an inch and a half but the sleeve has a functioning vent at the hem. If I just take it up from the top the vent stays in the wrong place. Should I take it up from the wrist and redo the vent, or is there a better way?
