Scuba vs ponte for structured dresses, whats actually the difference?

I see both listed for similar applications but theyre clearly different fabrics. Scuba seems shinier and ponte seems more matte and stretchier? But Ive also seen them described as interchangeable. Is there a practical guide to when youd choose one over the other?
