Does anyone buy fabric from other sewists? Better than retail or too risky?

Ive been curious about buying destashed fabric from other sewists rather than always going to retail. The prices seem much better and sometimes the quality sounds amazing. But I worry about condition, accurate descriptions, and whether the fiber content claims are reliable. Has anyone had consistently good or bad experiences?
