Do you ever buy secondhand fabric at thrift stores? What have you found?

Ive started checking the fabric section at estate sales and thrift stores more seriously and Im surprised what turns up. Last month I found 4 yards of a heavy wool coating for almost nothing. Has anyone made thrifting fabric a regular habit and do you have tips for what to look for?
