How do you sew a flat felled seam on curved pieces? Struggling with the back seam on jeans.

The straight sections of flat felled seams I can manage but the curved back seam on jeans is giving me fits. The fold keeps wanting to bunch on the inside of the curve. Is there a technique for trimming or clipping the seam allowance before folding that makes this easier?
