Whats the difference between twill and sateen weave for garment sewing?

I keep reading about weave structures but Im still fuzzy on how it actually affects what I make. I know sateen is shiny and twill is like denim but I dont understand the practical implications for sewing. Does one fray more? Press differently? Any insight welcome.
