Blind hem on wool trousers keeps showing through

I altered a pair of mens wool trousers for my husband and the blind hem stitch is visible from the outside. Using Gutermann thread that matches perfectly but you can still see tiny dimples where the needle catches the outer fabric. Is it my technique or is this just how it goes with lighter weight suiting?
