Linen bleeding in prewash - is it ruined?

Just prewashed some gorgeous terracotta linen and the water turned ORANGE. Like, deeply orange. Ive washed it three times now and its still releasing dye. Is this normal for linen? Should I be worried about it bleeding onto other fabrics when I wear the finished garment? Help!
